Team JPG Documents DNC Convention 2016

Millions of Americans witnessed Hillary Clinton’s historic presidential nomination at the end of the DNC Convention 2016, but the week’s festivities were experienced throughout Philadelphia. As the city buzzed with 50,000 delegates and thousands of press, Democratic events allowed delegates and elected leaders to share ideas and strategize for the November elections. The JPG Photography team was honored to be tasked with documenting many of these events and shoot in solidarity with organizations whose causes we stand behind. Here are a few of the events we documented:
The Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) reception took place on the 33rd floor at the Comcast Center, bringing together ambassadors and officials from around the world to discuss commerce. Former Sen. Tom Daschle and Senior Executive Vice President of Comcast, David Cohen, were in attendance to meet with the global visitors.
It was wonderful to see so many events for organizations representing a wide variety of demographics including millennials, immigrant leaders, women, and the LGBT community. At SAP’s We the Future event, a panel of Congressional leaders and actor Kal Penn engaged their audience on how to involve young people in government through digital interaction. We also photographed actress Diane Guerrero deliver a heartfelt speech on immigration reform at the New American Leaders Project event, focusing on preparing first and second generation Americans to be empowered in the political arena. We had the pleasure of working again with our continuing client Represent PAC, which supports electing strong female candidates to public office, at their R2L restaurant and lounge reception. We were so excited to photograph the following female political leaders: Gov. Kate Brown (OR), Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (NY), Hon. Wendy Davis (TX), Rep. Tammy Duckworth (IL), Sen. Kay Hagan (NC), Hon. Kamala Harris (CA), Gov. Maggie Hassan (NH), Hon. Maura Healey (MA), Sen. Mary Landrieu (LA), Senate candidate Katie McGinty (PA), Sen. Patty Murray (WA), Hon. Deborah Ross (NC), and Hon. Natalie Tennant (WV). Another political action committee working hard for women’s rights is Emily’s List. We were honored to join them at the Kimmel Center and photograph the most influential women in politics, former Speaker of the House and Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
Team JPG is proud to support the LGBT community, and enjoyed documenting the Victory Fund, whose mission is to elect openly gay and lesbian officials to all levels of government, at Voyeur Nightclub. Many prominent public figures, including PA Rep Brian Sims and Dr. Rachel Levine, Pennsylvania’s Physician General, were in attendance.
At the Leaders of American Agriculture event, we heard U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, speak about development programs to college students and young professionals in agriculture. Former NATO Supreme Allied Commander, and U.S. Army General, Wesley Clark, also came to support our nations agriculture needs. Additionally, we worked with iVote, which advocates for voting rights of all Americans.
The DNC Convention was a whirlwind that went by in a flash, but as we reflect on our various shoots with so many good people and leaders from across our great nation, Team JPG is proud our city for successfully hosting so many positive events. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with these organizations who work so hard for all of us, and we wish you all the best for the rest of this campaign season and beyond.
Best, Team JPG
