It’s easy to say which part of Jackie and Nicole’s LGBT Headhouse Square engagement session was my favorite. It was towards the end of their shoot when we composed a few frames along Philadelphia’s historic cobblestone streets. The brides-to-be embraced while framed by the pristine American flag in all of its red, white and blue glory. For a couple who’s had to fight so long for their equal rights to proclaim their love, this image felt revolutionary. In my mind, nothing is more patriotic than a beautiful LGBT couple expressing their love beneath our national banner.
Jackie and Nicole are beautiful to watch together. Loving, playful, and funny, their interaction and chemistry light up the camera. They laughed their way through their session, with good humor and no shortage of fantastic candid moments. Our shoot began in the moody atmosphere of The Olde Bar, which some may remember as Book Binders. After warming up with a drink (or three), we made our way over to Independence Mall to take a few shots (photos this time) at the Merchant Exchange Building.
A large portion of the session was captured as we explored Headhouse Square and the colonial streets of Old City. Jackie and Nicole rocked their session with ease, constantly joking around, having fun, and letting their personalities ring true through every frame. These are the kinds of shoots that remind me how much I love what I do. It’s an added bonus when the work we do at JPG Photography supports causes we believe in. I think everyone who sees this session will agree that Jackie and Nicole share the kind of bond every couple strives for, and that love is the same at its core no matter how it is presented.
The JPG team is excited for Jackie and Nicole’s wedding not only because they are awesome, but also because we’ve never had one so close to home. Taking place at Artesano in Manayunk, this venue is practically our neighbor! Jackie and Nicole, we look forward to celebrating your milestone in our own backyard, it’s an honor!
